I research and write about journalism, climate change communication, and digital media cultures—particularly in the Global South. My work explores how precarious labor, platform politics, and environmental crises shape news production and public discourse.

Biography
Mushfique Wadud is a journalist and media scholar whose work explores the intersection of journalism, environmental communication, and digital media in the Global South. Currently completing his Ph.D. in Journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder, his research examines how labor precarity among freelance journalists influences climate change reporting, particularly in South Asia. His dissertation, Exploiting the Climate Crisis: Freelance Labor Precarity and Global Inequality in Digital Climate Journalism, combines political economy, labor process theory, and environmental communication to analyze global media inequalities in the digital era.
Before entering academia, Mushfique worked as a staff reporter for leading news outlets in Bangladesh and contributed freelance reporting to international platforms including The New York Times, Reuters, and The Guardian. His academic research has been published in journals such as Journalism Practice and Media and Communication and has earned recognition including a Top Paper Award at the AEJMC Annual Conference.
Beyond scholarship, Mushfique is an independent creator who builds data-driven visual stories, creates digital content on media trends, and publishes Catch the Wave, a weekly newsletter that bridges journalism, technology, and critical research. He is passionate about making complex media issues accessible to wider audiences and mentoring the next generation of critical media thinkers.
With a passion for photography, I craft impactful visuals that tell stories and enhance digital content. I also focus on writing clear and engaging content that connects with audiences and delivers results.
